They farmed many crops and animals such as beans, sheep, onions, millet, papaya, and many others. They also had the natural resource of fish. While trading markets would provide food and shelter which was fortunate because the long distance trade strengthened the internal trade and helped the local economy.

Mark, Amy, Chloe, and Mr.Miles want to conclude by saying:
Songhai had many natural resources with the Niger River being the most important because it could control the going and coning of trade. They also were skilled farmers and agriculture was very important to them. They grew many crops and animals such as beans, sheep, onions, millet, and papaya along with many others. When they traded it strengthened their internal trade and helped their local economy. The trade was based on the Clan System and mainly consisted due to the standing armies stationed in the Providences. They traded with gold coin and other goods like valuable salt which could be traded as easily as gold due to its ability to preserve food, maintain good health, and and season.
